With the start of the summer, Semyon Bychkov is in Tokyo for two concerts with the Kioi Sinfonietta on Friday 3 and Saturday 4 July, before returning to Europe for the first of two concerts at the BBC Proms at the end of the month. In Japan, he will conduct Mozart’s Overture to Le nozze di Figaro, Brahms’s Double Concerto and Beethoven’s Symphony No. 7. While in London, he will be joined by Katia and Marielle Labèque and the BBC Symphony Orchestra for Mozart’s Concerto for two pianos and Shostakovich’s Leningrad Symphony.
August marks the beginning of a tour with the Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra which opens with a performance in Salzburg on the final day of the Festival and finishes three weeks later in Linz. In between, Bychkov will be heard with the Orchestra at the Grafenegg Festival and at the BBC Proms, as well as in Lucerne, Bucharest and Vienna. The repertoire for the tour features Brahms’ Symphony No. 3, Schmidt’s Symphony No. 2, Haydn’s Symphony No. 44 and Wagner’s Wesendonck Lieder with soloist Elisabeth Kulman.
