On 10 October, Semyon Bychkov will open the Czech Philharmonic’s 123rd season as their new Chief Conductor and Music Director with a performance of Mahler’s Symphony No. 2 Resurrection. He will be joined by soloists Christiane Karg and Elisabeth Kulman who will also join him for performances in Bratislava (12 October), New York (28 October) and later in Vienna (26/27 November).
A week later, he conducts the Orchesra in the first performance in 20 years of Berio’s Sinfonia for 8 Voices opposite Dvořák’s Symphony No. 7 (17/18/19 October). Dvořák’s Seventh Symphony also appears on Bychkov’s programme with the Orchestra in London for the first of their international centenary concerts together marking the 100th anniversary of Czechoslovak independence. Following the concert at the Royal Academy of Music on 24 October, Bychkov embarks on his first major tour with the Czech Philharmonic starting in New York (27 October) and Washington (29 October).
