On 5 and 6 January 2020, Semyon Bychkov can be heard conducting the Wiener Philharmoniker for the 150th anniversary celebrations of the Wiener Musikverein. The programme will be the same as the one heard in the Musikverein’s Great Hall 150 years ago: Beethoven’s “Egmont ” Overture; “Stimmt an die Saiten” from Haydn’s “The Creation”; Bach’s Violin Concerto in E with Anne-Sophie Mutter; “Kostanze, die wiederzusehen!” from Mozart’s “The Abduction from the Seraglio” with Piotr Beczała; Schubert’s “Pax vobiscum” with the Wiener Singverein; and Beethoven’s Fifth Symphony.
Just over a month later, following further subscription concerts in Prague with the Czech Philharmonic, Bychkov will return to Vienna to conduct Strauss’s “Elektra” at the Wiener Staatsoper.
