This December, Semyon Bychkov conducts the UK première of Detlev Glanert’s “Requiem for Hieronymus Bosch” at London’s Barbican Centre. The culmination of the BBC Symphony Orchestra’s Total Immersion: Detlev Glanert day on Saturday 7 December, the Requiem was originally written to mark the 500th anniverary of Bosch’s death in 2016, and premièred in st John’s Cathedral in Den Bosch in the Netherlands, the town where Bosch was born and died.
Bychkov, who as been a champion of Glanert’s work since 2007, will later in the season conduct the Requiem again in Prague with the Czech Philharmonic.
BBC Radio 3 will record and broadcast the UK première on Monday 10 December here.
