This month, Semyon Bychkov returns to Prague to conduct the Czech Philharmonic in two sets of subscription concerts. From 18-20 March, they give the Czech première performances of Detlev Glanert’s Requiem für Hieronymus Bosch. Bychkov was most recently heard in London conducting the UK première of the work in December with the BBC Symphony Orchestra. One week later, Bychkov and the Orchestra are joined by Lisa Batiashvili and Gautier Capuçon for three performances (25-27 March) of Brahms’ Double Concerto in A minor paired with Shostakovich’s Symphony No. 5.
A week before his return to Prague, Bychkov will be heard in Amsterdam conducting the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra for performances of Tchaikovsky’s Pathétique Symphony alongside works by Strauss and Ravel on 11 and 12 March, followed by one performance in Essen on 13 March.
