Today, Semyon Bychkov with the Czech Philharmonic continue their acclaimed Mahler cycle with the composer’s First Symphony, one of the most evocative and colourful symphonic debuts in the history of the genre. Released internationally by PENTATONE this will be the fourth disc in the series. The Bychkov/Czech Philharmonic Mahler cycle launched in April 2022 with Mahler’s Symphony No. 4 followed in November 2022 with the release of Symphony No. 5 and Symphony No. 2 Resurrection was released in April 2023. The Czech Philharmonic’s Mahler cycle with Bychkov is its first Mahler cycle since Václav Neumann’s recordings with the Orchestra more than 40 years ago.
