In a concert which will mark 100 years of the BBC and broadcast live on BBC Radio 3, Semyon Bychkov will conduct the UK première of Bryce Dessner’s Mari with the BBC Symphony Orchestra on 11 February.
Dedicated to Bychkov and the Czech Philharmonic, Bychkov has already conducted this new work by Dessner – who is a member of the rockband The National – in Zurich, Leipzig, Prague and Oslo.
The programme will also feature Strauss’s Burleske performed by Kirill Gerstein and Mussorgsky’s Pictures at an Exhibition also heard in Oslo recently.
