Semyon Bychkov returns to the Paris Opera to conduct a new production of Tchaikovsky’s Eugene Onegin, directed by Ralph Fiennes.  Bychkov first conducted Onegin while still a student at the Leningrad Conservatory and 20 years later, following performances at Théâtre du Châtelet with the Orchestre de Paris in 1992, recorded the work for Philips.  The release was immediately recognised with a slew of international awards and subsequently selected by Opera magazine as one of the 30 all-time great opera recordings (2002); as the ‘recommended recording’ by BBC Radio 3’s Record Review (2020); and included in the Gramophone Collection (2021).  Semyon Bychkov conducted Eugene Onegin at Maggie Musicale in Florence (2000) and London’s Royal Opera House (2015):
