PROGRAMME NOTE
At the final concert of Subscription Series A, the last completed symphony by Ludwig van Beethoven will be heard under the baton of Semyon Bychkov. That is a reason for joy—for an Ode to Joy. The chief conductor of the Czech Philharmonic says the clarity of Beethoven’s musical language predestines us directly to perceive the music of this composer, who will have died 200 years ago as of 2027.
