Teatro Real in Madrid welcomes Semyon Bychkov back this month for Wagner’s Parsifal which opens on Saturday 2 April. The production reunites Bychkov with director Claus Guth with whom he worked on Strauss’s Die Frau ohne Schatten at the Royal Opera House, Covent Garden in 2014.  Bychkov, who last conducted Parsifal at Dresden Semperoper during his time there as Chief Conductor, will be joined by Christian Elsner as Parsifal, Detlef Roth as Amfortas, Anja Kampe as Kundry, Franz-Josef Selig as Gurnemanz and Evgeny Nikitin as Klingsor.

Between the run, Semyon Bychkov travels to Berlin to give three performances of Tchaikovsky’s Third Symphony and Rachmaninov’s Second Piano Concerto with the Berlin Philharmonic and soloist Kirill Gerstein from 14-16 April.
