Semyon Bychkov has returned to the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra of Amsterdam this week. As part of the orchestras ‘Great Maestros’ series he will conduct Schubert’s ‘Great’ C major Symphony No. 9 in four performances at the legendary Concertgebouw Hall – at 20.15 on 29th, 30th and 31st January, and at 14.15 on Sunday 2nd February. The first half of the programme is devoted to Shostakovich’s searingly intense Cello Concerto No. 1 with the acclaimed French cellist Gautier Capucon.
