The Academy’s Klemperer Chair of Conducting, Semyon Bychkov, returns to conduct the Academy Symphony Orchestra in a programme that begins with the opening and closing music from Wagner’s Tristan und Isolde.

The ‘Enigma’ Variations, dedicated by Elgar ‘to my friends pictured within’, comprises 14 variations on an original theme, each depicting a different person from the composer’s social circle.
